Hidden down winding roads and dirt tracks, Emma got ready with her bridesmaids in a small cottage half an hour from Plymouth, Devon for her festival wedding. Emma kept the morning mega-chill by doing her own hair and makeup and having just a few other people there. The holiday cottage from Carswell Holidays is a renovated oven-living barn perfect for an intimate getting-ready location. It's extremely cosy and, as it is designed for just two people, I opted to take most of the morning pictures outside. Once Emma was ready she was greeted by her dad waiting down the stone path with a massive grin on his face- so precious!
After hopping in the car and driving 5 minutes towards the coast, I was met with a beautiful view of Carswell Weddings' field overlooking the English channel. This field is completely dry-hire so you can create a wedding from scratch but with a stunning backdrop (and maybe even a few cows if you're lucky!). Perfect for a DIY festival wedding!
The ceremony itself was not a legal ceremony as Emma & Tom had eloped in NYC a year prior! Instead, it was a ceremony led by their friends with lovely spoken words and laughter. The guests sat on hay bales and the flags floated at either side with the Devon coast in the background. Guests showered them with confetti as they walked towards the marquee.
After the ceremony, plates of pasties were passed around along with cocktails as guests greeted each other and family members caught up over games of beer pong. Emma's dad ran the 'old man's bar' serving spritz cocktails in pineapples and there was Festival glitter by The Glitter Boutique while everyone helped themselves to a Texas style BBQ before sitting down for speeches. As I was leaving 'Land of the Giants' were setting up to bring the tunes for the night.
