Easy DIY Ideas to Make Your Festival Wedding Unique and personal

Grace and Charlie tied the knot at Higher Holcombe on a perfect Devon summer's day. Nestled away in the countryside of Ottery St Mary, they left no stone unturned with their diy decorations, intuitive upcycling and entertainment for the day.

I'm Isobel, a wedding photographer based in Devon and if you're planning a festival wedding, you're in the right place! This day is jam-packed with creative inspiration!

CUSTOM UPCYCLED SIGNS

Create custom signs out of old wood/pallets. A really easy, personal, and eco-friendly way to create signage to direct your guests. The ideas are endless! Get the craft box out and make a date night out of it or get your friends involved!

RE-USE AND RENT FESTIVAL WEDDING SUPPLIES

Re-use what you already have or rent what you need. If your venue is a completely blank canvas it can be overwhelming thinking about everything you need to buy. Consider a local rental company to reduce your single-use waste. They can offer furniture, decorations, blankets, pillows, tableware, and more!

Take a look in your shed or cupboards. You'll be surprised at what can be used. For example, C+G used wheelbarrows to store all their booze, an old suitcase for their card box, and vintage photo frames to create a memorial for their lost loved ones.

ECO-FRIENDLY CONFETTI

Not sure about confetti? Have you considered a confetti bar? Charlie and Grace opted for a confetti pick 'n' mix table where guests can get stuck in with dried lavender, herbs, and petals- you can only imagine how good it smelt! This is 100% eco-friendly, won't bother any wildlife and, if you do your confetti shower outside, requires 0 clean up! We love!

KEEP IT COMFY + CASUAL

Consider encouraging guests to wear something they'll wear again. Grace's bridal party wore all-white outfits. Some wore linen trousers and another bridesmaid wore trousers and a corset. Seeing individuality encouraged and an un-traditional idea being executed so well got me excited and also thinking about how wasteful bridesmaid dresses are. Keeping your dress code more casual will ensure guests re-wear their outfits and feel more comfortable.

From the rolling hills to the rustic charm of Devon, this event was more than just a wedding—it was a joyful symphony of love, laughter, and the kind of unforgettable moments that only a festival-inspired wedding can deliver.
